New Delhi: Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale’s wife Vrushali has refuted rumours of his death, saying that the actor is still “alive.” Vikram Gokhale, who is admitted in the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, is in a critical condition on life support system. Reports of his death surfaced online in the early hours of Thursday after which Ajay Devgn, who shared screen space with the renowned actor in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, took to his twitter handle to offer his condolences, along with Riteish Deshmush, Javed Jaffery, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, actor Aly Goni and others.
Later, Vikram’s wife Vrushali refuted his death reports and said that he ‘slipped into a coma’. Talking to TOI, Vrushali said, “He slipped into coma yesterday afternoon and post that, he has not responded to touch. He is on ventilator. Doctors will decide tomorrow morning what to do, depending on whether he’s improving, sinking or still not responding. He improved a bit but slipped again. He has had a host of issues, like in heart and kidney. At the moment, he has had a multi-organ failure.”
Vikram’s daughter also told ABP, “He is still critical and dr has not confirmed yet. Keep praying for him🙏🏻”
Vikram Gokhale suffered from a serious liver disease that ultimately led to disfunctioning of the other vital organs. Vikram Gokhale had been visiting the hospital since November 6, but a very reliable source in the family told ABP News that his condition became very critical yesterday.
Vikram Gokhale is best known for essaying the role of Aishwarya Rai’s father in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
The veteran actor is the son of renowned Marathi theater and film actor Chandrakanta Gokhale. He belongs to an illustrious family of actors and theatre artists.
Vikram Gokhale’s great grandmother Durgabai Kamat, was the first female actor of the Indian screen. His grandmother Kamalabai Gokhale was the first child artist of Indian cinema.
Vikram Gokhale has worked in many Hindi films like ‘Khuda Gawah’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Mission Mangal’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘De Dana Dan, Hichki’. In 2013, he received the Best Actor Award for the Marathi film ‘Anumati’.
Apart from being a renowned actor and theatre artist, Vikram Gokhale has also played some unforgettable characters on television with serials like ‘Singhasan’, ‘Virrudh’ and ‘Sanjivani’ among others. He is popularly known for his performance in the serial ‘Udaan’, that aired on Doordarshan.
